What is a Codechef College Chapter?

CodeChef College Chapters are the programming clubs run and maintained by the official Chapter Leaders and mentored by CodeChef. They aim to make learning competitive programming accessible for students across the globe.

The mission of CodeChef College Chapters is to build a robust Competitive Programming culture in educational institutions. College Chapters help students become better problem solvers by fostering learning and professional development. We believe every student should be given the proper mentorship and resources to become a better programmer and compete on a global scale. You can know more about the CodeChef chapters here

My Journey

I got to know about the CodeChef chapter through Seniors, and it seemed like this is the thing we definitely need in our college. Being a college student, I have faced many difficulties in my CP journey like finding the right guidance, resources, and community for discussing problems. This chapter is aimed to solve exactly the same problem to build a competitive programming community in the college which helped me as well as many students get connected with like-minded people, and start their journey with Competitive Programming. Today, there are people who are doing CP than ever before in our college, and the Codechef college chapter plays an important role in achieving this.

We, 4 people have been selected for the Chapter leads for the academic session 2021–2022:

Tharun Chowdary: President

Anand Yadav: CP Lead

Mayur Ray: Media and Outreach Lead

Kajal Kumari: Event Lead

We conducted an induction session to let people know the motive of our chapter and how we are going to help students to begin with Competitive programming. we also organized a contest on the CodeChef Platform where the winners were awarded CodeChef Laddus and Amazon gift vouchers. We also started some learning activities like the DSA learning Series through which we conduct daily contests on dsa topics, a CP Series(CP-Zen) where some experienced people from the chapter conduct weekly sessions on CP topics.

Within a very less time, we saw growth in participants ratings on CP platforms like Codechef and Codeforces. Many got their rating range increased from newbie to pupil, specialist and reached 4 stars, 5 stars on CodeChef and currently we have community size of 300+ students.

It's really satisfying when you are able to provide at least some help to other people reach their goals. we have a great discord community where people constantly have CP discussions. I would highly recommend people reading this blog to start their own CodeChef College Chapter.

We are really thankful to CodeChef for giving us this kind of opportunity to bring a competitive programming culture to the campus.
